A Brief History

Dave Appell started arranging for big bands in the mid 1940's.  Later he formed a group called "Dave Appell and The Applejacks" and became Music Director on the "Ernie Kovacs Show" in Philadelphia.  In 1958 Dave and Kal Mann teamed up and produced and collaborated on such hits as "The Twist," "Let's Twist Again," "The Bristol Stomp" and

"South Street."

John's Memories

Dave Appell was an incredible talent...a great guitar player, great songwriter, great record producer.  He not only produced almost all of the Cameo Parkway hits, but went on to produce Tony Orlando and Dawn.  A great guy and a

very influential person in my career.
