Philly Doo Wop

DooWopCoverSm.jpg

This CD features 24 songs (recorded between 1957 and 1966) by some of Philadelphia's finest artists and groups including The Hi Tones, Anthony & The Sophomores, Danny & The Juniors, Johnny Madara, The Premiers, Billy & The Essentials, Dale & The Cashmeres, Maureen Gray, Bobby Wells, The Hearts, The Matadors, The Four Lyrics and The Sultans.

This historical CD contains valuable information on the musicians who played on each song* as well as the date the song was recorded and the studio where it was recorded.  There are also rare photos of some of the artists and groups.

*Leon Huff, who was discovered by John Madara, wrote and plays keyboards on several of the songs. This was before he partnered with Kenny Gamble to become one of the must successful writing/producing teams in the music business.

This one-of-a-kind CD is presented by John Madara.  Along with partner Dave White, John wrote and produced such timeless classics as AT THE HOP (Danny and The Juniors), ROCK AND ROLL IS HERE TO STAY (Danny & The Juniors, written by Dave White and produced by John Madara), THE FLY (Chubby Checker), YOU DON'T OWN ME (Leslie Gore, produced by Quincy Jones) and 123 (Len Barry, who also co-wrote the song with Madara & White).  These and countless other hits by Madara & White helped to create "The Sound of Philadelphia."

All songs have been digitally restored and digitally mastered.

Make this historical CD a part of your oldies doo-wop collection!
