a brief history
Kal
Mann began his career in the 1940's and 50's
as a comedy writer for Danny Thomas, Red Buttons and Jack
Leonard. In the late 1950's, Kal Mann met Dave Appell
and collaborated with him on such classic hits as "The
Twist," "Let's Twist Again," "Bristol
Stomp" and "South Street." He was co-founder
with Bernie Lowe of Cameo/Parkway records, where their signing
and recording of Chubby Checker would help them to become
one of the largest independent record labels in America.
